Autumn Love
Autumn is literally so close I can almost smell it in the air. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved fall. I’d spend hours playing in the pile of leaves my father had racked up, tossing them all over the place, painting them, rolling around in them. Ah, the childhood memories of an only child.
Growing up, my best friends’ birthday was the week before Halloween and because she never did anything without the entire neighborhood knowing about it, we spent the first month of school planning her birthday party. We’d bed our parents to take us to as many pumpkin patches as possible in search of that perfect pumpkin only to eventually find it at the grocery store. We had our parents drive us everywhere looking for Halloween costumes and haunted houses to run through.
As an adult, I still enjoy fall and all things Halloween. Autumn scented candles (like apple pumpkin), watching Hocus Pocus (who doesn't love Hocus Pocus?!), Beetlejuice and The Rocky Horror Picture Show under my favorite cashmere throw drinking a hot cup of spiked apple cider or hot cocoa. Two Halloween's ago my husband and I spent two days carving pumpkins like we were in a carving competition only to forget to light them on Halloween.
Over the next several weeks, we're going to be posting some of our favorite autumn and Halloween recipes (hope you like chocolate, squash and pumpkin!), decor and inspiration as well as some of the festivals we come across. (We're so excited for Harvest weekend in October!)
What are some of your favorite parts of autumn? Do you go all out for Halloween?
