Tropical Rum Punch
Certain flavors just go with summer and adult entertaining. Rum always reminds me of the tropics, and as it’s distilled from sugar cane, which of course is grown in the tropics, it’s the perfect summer mood enhancer, especially if you cannot be in the tropics.
Tis certainly doesn’t mean a good rum-based adult beverage is summertime fare only. But with the lazy long days, why not maximize your summer vibes?
Today’s little palate teaser is a super-easy but super-tasty rum punch. Caution: remember there’s rum in it! This drink goes down soooo smoothly, and you’ll be tempted to gulp it down as quickly as you can so you can have another. Be a grown-up: savor every sip. and don’t worry, the ingredients are all stuff you should have on hand in your pantry and with your adult beverage supplies.
What do you need to make this gorgeous drink? Bitters, simple syrup, orange-pineapple juice, and of course, your favorite rum. Dark or light, regular or spiced, your choice.
No simple syrup laying around? Make some, it’s simple! One part sugar to one pat water. heat the water (it’s not necessary to bring it to a boil) and add the sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Allow it to cool and store it in a clean, sealed glass container in your fridge.
